SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement) assessments are essentially a Stage 1 audit of your health & safety management — measured against the HSE's published Core Criteria and the underpinning law. We handle the lot, so you can stay on the tools.
H&S documentation
A signed, dated H&S policy (Section 2(3) HSWA 1974), organisation and arrangements, plus the procedures assessors expect — all written in plain English and tailored to how you actually work, not lifted from a template.
Risk assessments & method statements
Suitable and sufficient risk assessments under MHSWR 1999, task-specific RAMS, COSHH 2002 assessments and the CDM 2015 evidence assessors look for on construction work.
Evidence pack
The proof behind the policy — training records and competencies, insurance certificates, PUWER 1998 and LOLER inspection records, RIDDOR 2013 reporting arrangements, toolbox talks and site inspection logs, indexed and ready.
The submission
We complete and upload the application on the scheme's portal, map every answer to the evidence, and present it the way assessors mark it — so it clears first time wherever possible.
Assessor queries
If the assessor comes back with questions or a "minor non-conformance", we answer them, supply what's needed and resubmit — you don't get left holding a clarification request you don't understand.

SSIP exists to cut "assessment fatigue" — the old problem of proving the same health & safety competence over and over to every client. The schemes operate a mutual recognition arrangement, so a valid assessment with one member body is, in most cases, accepted by the others under Deemed to Satisfy (DTS). Get it right once and you stop re-doing it for every buyer.
But the schemes are not identical. CHAS aligns tightly to the SSIP Core Criteria; Constructionline tiers you (Bronze through Gold) with PAS 91-style questions; Achilles dominates rail, utilities and energy supply chains; SMAS and Acclaim each have their own portals and quirks. Pick the wrong route — or answer a question the way it isn't marked — and you waste weeks. We know how each one assesses, so your effort lands where it counts.
